Who we are

EcoTrophic Solutions aims to leverage natural interactions between organisms to sustainable produce biomass for human purposes. We believe that by working with a diverse variety aquatic organisms we can more rapidly produce biomass with less environmental impact while improvising the quality of life for cultured fish by better replicating their natural diets. We aim to support research and production culturing of freshwater organisms to produce sustainable biomass and remediate water pollutants.

We rely on traditional ecological knowledge of freshwater ecosystems, as well as cutting edge research to develop sustainable ways of producing freshwater organisms. We aim to work with producers and communities to overcome aquaculture production and wastewater remediation issues. We hope to continue developing new methods, expanding the organisms we work with, and sharing our findings and experiences along the way.

Culturing freshwater species, especially microorganisms such as algae and zooplankton can be an inspirational learning experience in the classroom. For producers of aquarium and aquaculture grade fish there are many benefits including increased quality of fish & growth rate as well as improved operational resilience by producing feed in house. We hope to promote conservation of natural ecosystems and resources by improving the efficiency and sustainability of aquaculture practices.
